Privacy and Cookies

When you are in contact with us to order services from us, or use our website, Hotel 1904 will process personal data about you. The trust of our users is of the utmost importance to us, and we are therefore committed to protecting your privacy. Here we will explain how and why we collect and use information about our users, and how we take privacy into account.

1. What are personal data and who is responsible for them?

Personal data are information and assessments that can be linked to a natural person. This can, for example, be a name, place of residence, telephone number, e-mail address or IP address.

Any collection, registration, combination, storage and disclosure of personal data is called processing of personal data. All processing of personal data in Norway is subject to the Personal Data Act, and the Norwegian Data Protection Authority supervises compliance with the law.

The person who determines what the personal data are to be used for is called the controller. The controller must ensure that the personal data are processed in accordance with the applicable rules.

2. Why do we collect personal data and what kind of information do we collect?

We collect information that you provide to us yourself and information about the use of our services. We collect the following personal data for the purposes stated here:

  1. Send information about our business to your e-mail.

  2. Respond to inquiries that come to us, for example by sending us an e-mail to post@1904.no, by telephone, or by giving feedback through functions in the service (comment fields, forms or similar on our website). Name, telephone number, e-mail address and any other personal data that may be included in the inquiry. Processing of personal data takes place on the basis of a balancing of interests. We have assessed that this is often necessary for us to help you with what you are wondering about.

  3. To provide you with the service you have ordered from us. Name, telephone number, e-mail address and any personal data that may arise from the order. Processing is necessary to fulfill the agreement with you.

  4. To obtain information about the use of our websites, we use cookies. You can read more about cookies and which cookies we use in our cookies statement. We process personal data on the basis of a balancing of interests. We have assessed that it is necessary for us to adapt the website to our users. However, we safeguard your privacy by only using the information for statistics. In these statistics, it is not possible to identify you as an individual. Furthermore, we delete personal data collected via the website on a daily basis.

  5. We may use information about your activity on our services combined with technical data (such as log files and more) to prevent, limit and investigate different types of misuse of our services. By “misuse” we mean, among other things, the use of fake profiles, spamming, harassment, attempts to log into other people's accounts, as well as other behavior that is in violation of applicable law.

Cookies

We use cookies to improve the user experience of our website. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your device (e.g. your smartphone, PC, iPad, etc.) Cookies help identify which pages are visited by our websites. The information stored through a cookie may be used to determine how you as a user make use of our websites, which web browser you use and which websites you have visited. A permanent cookie remains on your device indefinitely. A session cookie is stored temporarily in your device's memory while you are on our websites. Session cookies are deleted when the web browser is closed. We use both permanent cookies and session cookies.

If you do not want our websites to be stored on your device, you can disable cookies in your web browser. If you disable cookies in the settings on your device, the functionality of our websites will be reduced.

3. Who do we share the information with?

We do not disclose your personal data to others unless there is a legal basis for such disclosure. This means that we will not share, sell or otherwise transfer personal data in any other way than described in this privacy policy unless this has been specifically agreed with you or a legal basis requires us to disclose the information.

We use data processors to collect, store or otherwise process personal data on our behalf. In such cases, we have entered into agreements to safeguard information security at every stage of processing. We currently use the following data processors:

If required by law or if there is suspicion that a criminal offense has been committed in connection with the use of our services, the information we have stored about you may be disclosed to public authorities.

4. Storage period and how you can manage, correct or delete the information we have about you

We will not store personal data longer than is necessary to fulfill the purpose of the processing and the legal obligations we have. This means, for example, that personal data that we process on the basis of your consent will be deleted if you withdraw your consent. Personal data we process to fulfill an agreement with you are deleted when the agreement has been fulfilled and all obligations arising from the contractual relationship have been met.

You have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of the personal data we process about you. You also have the right to request restricted processing, object to the processing and request the right to data portability. It is also important to us that the information we have about you is correct and up to date.

You can also contact us at post@1904.no to exercise your rights. We will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible, and no later than within 30 days.
You may at any time withdraw your consent for our processing of personal data.

5. Complaints

If you believe that our processing of personal data does not comply with what we have described here or that we otherwise violate data protection legislation, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.

6. Specially about children's privacy

As a general rule, we do not wish to collect or otherwise process personal data about children under the age of 15, with the exception of our services on Facebook accounts where everyone can comment on articles.
There are separate monitoring routines for these comments. If children under 15 have nevertheless given us personal data in other contexts, we will delete the information as soon as we become aware of the matter. Guardians can contact us as stated below.

7. Implementation of changes

From time to time, we may update this privacy policy to reflect any changes to the website or our website policy. The same applies with regard to changes in the regulations on the processing of personal data. In the event of significant changes, we will provide separate information in the services affected.
