About the hotel

In the heart of the Art Nouveau city

Hotel 1904 is Ålesund’s oldest hotel, built in 1904. The historic façade with Art Nouveau elements adorns the cityscape and invites visitors and locals alike to unforgettable experiences, alone or with family and friends.

Hotel 1904 has 71 comfortable rooms, all with unique design. Nooks and crannies in the Art Nouveau building give it an exciting, personal character. The rooms combine a clean, stylish look with warm textiles and set the scene for your stay.

The people behind Hotel 1904 are genuinely committed to creating new, lively urban spaces behind the façades, for both visitors and locals. The focus is on bringing back the building's historical identity while weaving in the present. Innovation, growth, and urban development are strong in our region, something reflected in our Scandinavian boutique hotel.

JACU x 1904

Together with Jacu Coffee Roastery, we wanted to solve a challenge: how to make a really great cup of coffee in the hotel room—before breakfast, or as a quiet afternoon moment just for yourself?

Sol and André have, in collaboration with Jacu, selected Guatemala Quesalito. It is roasted slightly darker than Jacu’s usual light roast profile, to give a fuller experience in the capsule. The coffee is ground and packed in compostable capsules, compatible with Nespresso machines. In the cup, you’ll get a balanced coffee with notes of chocolate, nuts, and a hint of pear. Available in all our rooms.
